Starting in 2010, New Moon Foundation (NMF) partners with VietHope to carry out a values based (NMF’s core values GRACE) scholarship program in Vietnam.

The purpose of this scholarship program is to provide scholarship awards to students in Vietnam who meet VietHope’s Merit criteria and NMF’s core values, and are committed to practice GRACE in their daily life.

Primary and secondary school had traditionally been free in Vietnam, but recent reforms have imposed fees and other charges that families must contribute at all levels of education. Families nowadays face several forms of direct and indirect costs: monthly tuition, additional tutoring fees, school maintenance fees, textbooks, and school uniforms. These new reforms have significantly affected families in rural areas, many of whom can no longer afford to send their children to school.

VietHope is a non-profit organization, founded in the Boston area in 2002.  VietHope believes the future development of Vietnam lies in its human capital, and VietHope is focused on developing Vietnam’s youth by providing educational opportunities.

To achieve VietHope’s mission VietHope is focused on

  • Providing access to education to high performing yet financially disadvantaged students in Vietnam
  • Building a network of volunteers in Vietnam and the US who share the VietHope vision and commitment
  • Developing a network of students and professionals who share the belief of youth development and community service
